Over twenty of Tasmania's finest and most promising designers have taken up our challenge to explore the origins of their creative drives. Assistance to Organisations Grant Success - October 2009
With a tremendous thanks to Arts Tasmania and the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and the Arts, DOT will be extending it's services to the design community in Tasmania for 2010. Also a huge thank you to our grant writers: Sara Wright, Stuart Williams and Ian and Biz Ritchard.
In line with our aim to cultivate a commercially viable design community we will:
- Employ an Industry Development Officer for two extra days a week (in addition to our 9 hour administration budget), who will focus on commission opportunities, marketing and advertising, promotions and events, industry partnerships etc
- Offer two springBOARD scholarships for an emerging designer from the South of Tasmania and an emerging designer from the North of Tasmania to take up residencies at dot for 12 months
- Host a number of masterclass workshops/critiques run by high profile national designers
- Also, we have been given funding to support our biennial exhibition, DOT: Port of Departure, with further funding for exhibition management, site fees and to have every exhibited work documented by photographer, Peter Whyte.
